The Setting
Introduction

We will provide a warm, safe, friendly, home environment with a family atmosphere in which children feel valued, can play, learn and develop. Your child will receive a lot of individual attention whilst enjoying interaction with others. As parents we understand and appreciate that parents are the most important people in a child’s life and therefore consult with parents on all aspects of their child’s care.
Loobylou’s Childcare is set in a beautiful countryside location, in a large 6/7 bedroomed house (converted Mill) with a large, secured garden and a separate secured courtyard space. We often have sheep and cows in the fields surrounding us. We use majority of the house for childminding including a large living room, separate dining room, craft room, large reception hall and large playroom plus all the bedrooms so children can have undisturbed sleep in their own cots and own room.
We have an indoor swimming pool which is not currently in use (the swimming pool room is locked during childminding hours).
The Livingroom

We follow a hygge approach in the livingroom and try to create a relaxing cosy warm atmosphere, with comfy area's, soft lighting, plants, cushions, blankets, relaxing sounds and projections.
We try to bring nature inside and use objects to spark curiosity and imagination. We have a lovely collection of natural resources. A variety of baskets containing small logs, log slices, spindles, peg dolls, wooden blocks, keys, holistic balls. We use real everyday objects, real jewellery and party clothes for dressing up, party shoes and real bags. Do you remember as a child trying on your parents shoes this is the same excitement I see when children enter the dressing up area. We have lots of wooden loose parts. Resourcing For Provocations and invitations to play.
Teaching children about nature and giving them the opportunity to be outdoors exploring is a very important part of our day. I find children thrive when doing outdoor activities especially in the local woodland areas.
They love to collect objects, bringing them back to the setting and incorporating them into their play and exploration. Being outside is so important for their mental wellbeing.
The Dining Room
We eat all meals and snacks in here. We do all messy arts and crafts in here but there is opportunities for children to access arts and crafts at all times. Sing and Sign will be done in the dining room daily away from distractions.
The Playroom
In the playroom we have a climbing frame, slide, role play and lots more resources. This room allows free flow straight out into our secure garden.
Swimming Pool
The indoor swimming pool (locked during childminding hours).
