Government-Funded Childcare Hours – What You Need to Know

We’re delighted that the government is expanding funded childcare hours—making quality early education more accessible than ever for families across England.

Current Funding:

✅ All families in England with a 3-4 year old: Up to 15 hours per week.
✅ Eligible working families with a 3-4 year old: Up to 30 hours per week.
✅ Eligible working families with a child aged 9 months up to school age: Up to 15 hours per week.

New Funding Coming in September 2025:

🎉 Eligible working families with a child aged 9 months up to school age: Up to 30 hours per week.

Tax-Free Childcare: Extra Savings

You could get:
💰 Up to £500 every 3 months (£2,000 a year) per child to help with childcare costs.
💰 Up to £1,000 every 3 months (£4,000 a year) if your child is disabled.

How It Works:

  1. Set up an online childcare account for your child.

  2. For every £8 you pay in, the government adds £2.

  3. Use the funds to pay your childcare provider.

Example:

  • If your childcare costs £55 per day, you pay £44, and the government contributes £11.

💡 Bonus: You can use Tax-Free Childcare at the same time as 30-hour funded childcare if eligible!
